Success of Hamilton Park Racecourse
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Hamilton Park Racecourse on a groundbreaking 2018, in which it collected multiple accolades and awards alongside record attendees and major growth in its conference and events business; recognises that Hamilton Park Racecourse was crowned Showcase Champion at the ninth RCA Showcase Awards, where venues from across the UK were recognised for showing excellence and innovation in customer experience, which is the first time that a small racecourse has won the top award; notes that the venue was named Best Small Racecourse in Scotland and The North by members of the Racegoers Club for going above and beyond to ensure a great customer experience; understands that it has become one of only three five-star racecourses in Scotland following a grading from VisitScotland, which is recognises the entire visitor experience and investment in the business to make it as economically sustainable and profitable as it can be; highlights that Hamilton Park Racecourse was also recently named among the best in the country for racehorse owners; notes that it will hold Gold Standard status for the next 12 months and that it is the fourth year in a row that the venue has achieved the coveted status from the Racehorse Owners Association, and understands that work is currently underway to open a £10 million hotel in the summer of 2019, which will create 20 new jobs and generate an additional £5.9 million in annual visitor expenditure.
