Safe Families for Children Wins Centre for Social Justice Award
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the charity, Safe Families for Children, on recently being presented with a Centre for Social Justice Award; understands that the national charity was established in October 2014 and is a partner of the City of Edinburgh Council, working with social work and connecting isolated families with volunteers who can offer tailored support and wraparound care, including in the community; recognises what it sees as the importance of this work, noting that in July 2017 there were 14,897 looked after children in Scotland and that, since 2013, the charity assisted 7,000 children; notes that, on winning the award, the charity was awarded a £10,000 grant and promotion of its work before an audience of politicians, journalists and philanthropists; wishes the charity all the best in continuing its good work, and hopes that it benefits from the exposure that winning this national award brings.
