Lodged by Adam Tomkins Standard Motion 22 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament notes the recent PwC report that shows that the number of hotel rooms in Glasgow has grown by more than 10% in one year to more than 11,000; considers this growth to be a means of accommodating more leisure and business tourists and boosting the city’s retail, cultural and conference sectors; welcomes the confidence shown by developers in Glasgow, with an additional 1,400 new hotel rooms opening in 2019 and 2020, further boosting the city’s economy; considers that events such as the TRNSMT festival, as well as the ongoing appeal of the SSE Hydro’s calendar of events, are incentivising music fans to stay overnight in Glasgow, and acknowledges the city’s growing reputation for having the infrastructure and facilities capable of hosting large-scale international events.
