The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the news that the People's Palace museum in Glasgow, which is an archive of the stories, images and memories of the city and how Glaswegians have lived, worked and played over the years, is to reopen; notes that the historic venue on Glasgow Green was closed toward the end of 2018 due to health and safety concerns; understands that, following a campaign by the Evening Times,£350,000 has been raised to save the building; notes that several alterations have been made, including the addition of a new café and retail space, improved access to public toilets and a new fire escape; believes that school groups will be able to access a new purpose-built packed lunch area on the top floor, which replaces the space in the adjacent Winter Gardens that was used previously; understands that the first visitors will be able to enjoy a new photography exhibition, which captures daily life in the city in 1955, and looks forward to the reopening of what it sees as this iconic venue.
