Scottish SPCA Annual Review 2018
The motion
That the Parliament recognises and welcomes the success of the Scottish SPCA in helping animals in need and championing the welfare of animals during 2018; understands that the charity answered 202,452 calls, attended over 90,000 incidents, rescued 19,532 animals, rehomed 5,068, rehabilitated and released 5,642 back into the wild and reunited 984 lost animals with their owners; praises its education programme for young people and welcomes the news that it is to be expanded in the coming years; recognises the valuable contribution that the charity makes to tackling the illegal puppy trade through its #SayNoToPuppyDealers campaign; notes the collaborative approach that the charity takes with other animal welfare organisations to inform the public and campaign for progress on animal welfare issues and recognises the important contribution made by those other organisations, and encourages the public to show continued support for the Scottish SPCA in caring for and protecting animals across Scotland.
