Support for People with Arthritis and Musculoskeletal Conditions
The motion
That the Parliament recognises the work of the organisations across Scotland that support people living with arthritis and other musculoskeletal conditions; understands that rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis and osteoporosis are the leading cause of such illnesses, which can occur at any time in life, including childhood; welcomes the work of the Scottish Paediatric and Adolescent Rheumatology Network (SPARN), which is a national clinical network of paediatric rheumatology specialist multidisciplinary teams, and the Scottish Network for Arthritis in Children (SNAC), which is a volunteer-run charity that provides support to children and families affected by childhood arthritis; notes that 2019 sees both SPARN and SNAC celebrating their 10th anniversaries; welcomes the work of Versus Arthritis, whose Young People and Families Service supports 10- to 25-year-olds and their families; commends these organisations and others for their efforts and support; acknowledges what it sees as the benefits of multidisciplinary support for people living with such conditions, and applauds their shared ambition to ensure that every person diagnosed with arthritis or a musculoskeletal condition receives the help that they need to cope with these long-term, chronic conditions.
