New First Responders Unit for Dunblane

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the news that a new first responders unit is being established in Dunblane; believes that at a recent Dunblane Community Council meeting, it was announced that six potential volunteers are to embark on the training process; acknowledges that one of the volunteers is a former GP and another is a potential nursing student; understands that a total of 12 people had attended an open recruitment session at the Braeport Centre in Dunblane on 24 April 2019; acknowledges that training for the new scheme, which is expected to take up to nine months, is to be carried out by both the Scottish Ambulance Service and Trossachs Search & Rescue (TSR); considers that, since the previous organisation that served the Dunblane area for over 10 years was dissolved, TSR members have carried out a temporary service in the area since October 2018 and were invited to extend their coverage to include Dunblane by the Dunblane Community Council; notes that the new first responders group will continue under the TSR heading once it is established; extends its thanks to all the volunteers and Dunblane Community Council for restarting this excellent and vital life-saving initiative, and wishes everyone involved the very best of luck for its continued success.
