Borders Book Festival

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the organisers of the Borders Book Festival on making the 2019 event the most successful in its history; understands that over 34,000 people visited the four-day Melrose-based festival, which hosted talks and events with top writers, historians, celebrities and politicians, and even featured the premiere performance of an operetta, Dandie Dinmont, which has been written by famous novelist, Alexander McCall Smith; understands that the festival is the largest cultural event between Edinburgh and Newcastle and welcomes visitors from all over the world; thanks all the staff, volunteers and guests for helping to make the festival a success, and wishes the organisers all the best for 2020 and beyond.
