Drowning Prevention Week Marked with Swim Programme Launch in Aberdeen

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the launch of swimming safety lessons in Aberdeen as part of Drowning Prevention Week; understands that more than 7,800 children are being taught lifesaving skills, including the Water Safety Code, and how to rescue themselves if they get into trouble in the water; further understands that the programme has been put together by Scottish Swimming, Scottish Water, Royal Life Saving Society UK and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution; notes that this effort is the largest co-ordinated water safety lesson ever to be held in Scotland, and wishes everyone safety in the water over the summer holidays.
