Success for St Margaret's School in Bright Ideas Challenge
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the staff and pupils of St Margaret’s School for Girls in Aberdeen on winning the Aberdeenshire prize in Shell’s Bright Ideas Challenge; understands that S3 pupils won £1,500 for an idea to extract the chemical xanthopterin from the Oriental hornet insect to be used in cars to convert light energy into electrical energy that can power the car’s battery; acknowledges that they plan to use the money to buy resources for STEM subject classes at school, and wishes all involved the very best for their future scientific endeavours.
