Wemyss Caves
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the programme of events organised by the Save the Wemyss Ancient Caves Society; notes that the SCAPE (Scottish Coastal Archaeological and the Problem of Erosion) Trust and the University of St Andrews coordinated archaeological work at the caves between 11 and 16 July 2019; understands that one of the aims of the work was to more accurately date the Pictish carvings; further understands that findings from the dig included medieval pottery and animal bone, and welcomes the hard work and enthusiasm of the many volunteers who took part in the dig.
