Funding Award for Forth Valley College STEM Hub

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the news that Forth Valley College, which has a campus in Alloa, has been awarded £43,727 for its Renew STEM Hub from the SP Energy Networks Green Economy Fund; understands that a total of 21 Scottish projects have been awarded a share of £10 million from the Fund to help them pursue their green ambitions; notes that this funding announcement will see SP Energy Networks support a range of innovative projects, from e-bike hire schemes and electric bin lorries to a micro heat network and community hydropower station; acknowledges that Forth Valley College’s project, which was awarded the funds at a launch event and grant award ceremony at Our Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh, will see the college run additional STEM learning opportunities with a focus on renewables for young people from early years to secondary level across the Forth Valley region; further acknowledges that this will be done through a combination of approaches, including the development of innovative online learning materials, knowledge exchange events and facilitating opportunities for collaboration between education, business and other key stakeholders; commends the college for all its highly proactive and visionary work, and wishes everyone involved all the very best for the Hub’s continued success.
