Lodged by Liam Kerr (Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party) Standard Motion 20 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Sir Ian Wood on being awarded the Carnegie Medal of Philanthropy; notes that the Carnegie Medal was established in 2001 to recognise individuals who personify the ideals of Andrew Carnegie in giving away surplus wealth for the good of the people and creating a world of positive change; understands that Sir Ian is the only European recipient of the award in 2019, and that this recognition is for his work with the Wood Foundation, which focuses its philanthropic investments and resources on efforts to reduce inequity and increase opportunities in Scotland and East Africa; hopes that this recognition will inspire others to give of their resources in pursuit of such aims, and wishes Sir Ian and the Wood Foundation the best for the future.
