Fly-tipping Problems in Clackmannanshire and the Forth Valley

Lodged by Alexander Stewart Standard Motion 19 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament condemns the latest spate of fly-tipping by bogus workmen around Clackmannanshire and the Forth Valley that has been reported by Police Scotland; understands that the force has highlighted the negative impact of these activities on the environment, especially at scenic attractions such as Clackmannan Tower, the Kelpies and the Wallace Monument; believes that such activity shows a disregard for the community; considers that illegal dumping brings huge clean-up costs to local authorities and that the items dumped can have a detrimental effect on wildlife; is concerned that the "workmen" are reportedly also conducting scams in the area by requesting access to the homes of older people and stealing from them, and encourages anyone aware of bogus workmen or fly-tipping activities to contact the police.
