Sauchie Nursery Achieves Diamond Award for Children's Language Skills
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Sauchie Nursery on becoming the first of its kind in Forth Valley to earn a diamond award for improving the language skills of children; understands that, through a new interactive programme delivered with the help of NHS Forth Valley speech and language therapists, the programme, Language is Fun Together (LIFT), has seen a vast improvement in the way children at the nursery speak and communicate; considers that, according to its research, 73% of youngsters taking part in LIFT groups now have the skills expected of their age group, which compares with a figure in January 2018 that showed that on average only 34% of three-year-olds in LIFT nurseries achieved this; acknowledges that Sauchie is one of 10 Clackmannanshire nurseries involved in LIFT, which is helping to build children’s language and communication skills through everyday play and talk and group work, and commends everyone involved for their excellent work.
