Team Europe, Solheim Cup Winners
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Team Europe on winning the 2019 Solheim Cup 2019 at Gleneagles; acknowledges that the three-day women's golf tournament, which has been contested between Europe and the United States since 1990 and is named after the late club manufacturer, Karsten Solheim, follows the same format as the Ryder Cup; notes with pride that the team was captained by the Scot, Catriona Matthew; applauds the players on this outstanding achievement, particularly Suzann Pettersen from Norway, who held her nerve to sink the winning putt; considers that this win is great news for women’s golf, and wishes the players and captains of both teams well.
