Scottish Borders Tourism
The motion
That the Parliament acknowledges that tourism events in the Scottish Borders contribute £7 million to the region annually; understands that a series of annual events such as the Melrose Sevens rugby competition, Borders Book Festival, Borders Art Fair and Tweedlove/Transcend bike festival all provide welcome support for the local economy; notes that large, one-off regional events, such as the Borders Stage of the Tour of Britain, also make a valuable economic contribution; commends groups, including the Tweed Valley Tourism Business Improvement District, for their efforts in promoting tourism in the Borders, and wishes the organisers of the annual Borders events all the best for the coming year.
