Alloa Judoka Successes at Commonwealth Championships
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Cailin Calder, who is from Sauchie and is a member of the Esprit Judo Club, on winning Gold for Scotland at the 2019 Commonwealth Judo Championships following his success in the under 100kg senior men's category, at which he defeated Avtar Singh from India in the final to remain unbeaten over the five days of competition; further congratulates Cailin's club teammate, Gabriella Wood, who won a Silver to add to the Alloa club's collection of accolades; notes that the championships in Walsall featured around 1,000 competitors across a broad range of categories, including juniors, seniors, veterans and visually impaired; understands that Cailin now aims to qualify for 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and wishes him and Gabriella all the very best.
