Support for Victory in Japan Day
The motion
That the Parliament supports calls to ensure that Victory in Japan day (VJ Day) is given equal commemoration in line with other Second World War events in 2020; notes that this will be the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War; understands the horrors that many soldiers went through during the Far East campaign and considers that they should be recognised for their sacrifice; believes that they should not go down in history as the “Forgotten Army”, and hopes that VJ Day can be commemorated appropriately across the UK, including in Galloway and West Dumfries.
