The Clackmannanshire Befriending Project
The motion
That the Parliament acknowledges that the Clackmannanshire Befriending Project (CBP) has been celebrating its achievements to mark National Befriending Week 2019; understands that the CBP is a volunteering programme that was set up in 2018 by the UK-wide charity, Volunteering Matters, in 2018, which supports isolated and disadvantaged young people; notes that its adult volunteers dedicate hours of their time to befriending young people aged from eight upwards; understands that the awareness week, which is held annually during the first week in November, sees befriending programmes across the UK celebrate their impact and offers a chance to thank the volunteers involved with them, and welcomes the work that the CBP does to provide young people with a new direction in life by opening up a range of activities that aim to lead to increased self-esteem and self-confidence.
