Institute of Aquaculture Awarded The Queen's Anniversary Prize

That the Parliament congratulates the Institute of Aquaculture at the University of Stirling on the announcement that it is to receive The Queen’s Anniversary Prize; understands that the prize was introduced in 1994 to mark the 40th anniversary of The Queen’s accession to the throne, and is the highest national honour awarded in UK further and higher education; further understands that it recognises outstanding work that shows quality and innovation and delivers real benefit to the wider world through education and training; notes that the award, which will be presented by a senior member of the Royal Family at Buckingham Palace in February 2020, celebrates the Institute of Aquaculture’s pioneering work in the world’s fastest growing food production sector in a bid to tackle global hunger; further notes that the award coincides with the 40th anniversary of the Institute of Aquaculture; recognises that experts working within the institute are working to tackle global problems of food security, hunger and sustainability and have established a global reputation for teaching, research, innovation and consultancy; understands that the institute will be transformed through the Stirling and Clackmannanshire City Region Deal, and wishes everyone involved with the Institute of Aquaculture and the University of Stirling continued success in the future.
