Kieran McMaster is Sportscotland Young Coach of the Year
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Kieran McMaster who has been recognised as the sportscotland Young Coach of the Year; understands that Kieran, an accomplished boxer who is a sports mentor for East Ayrshire Council and a coach at the North West Amateur Boxing Club, has worked with young people of all ages and abilities, including some of the most vulnerable young people in East Ayrshire, using boxing as a way to build bonds and have conversations about subjects such as mental health, drugs and alcohol; notes that Kieran’s mentoring has not only allowed these young people to become accomplished in the boxing ring, but has also led to them attending school more regularly; commends Kieran for his contribution to boxing and for his commitment to improving the lives of young people through sport; applauds his efforts, and wishes him continued success.
