The Bottle Genies and O-I Glass, Reducing Clackmannanshire’s Carbon Footprint
The motion
That the Parliament commends Scott and Anne Andrew, who are from Tillicoultry, on the work of their business, the Bottle Genies, which uplifts bottles and jars; notes that Scott and Anne started the firm after the kerbside collection of boxes in their area ceased in favour of community glass banks; understands that the Bottle Genies had been offering fortnightly and monthly uplifts, but that having to pay to drop these off at a recycling centre was becoming untenable; welcomes the news that the O-I glass plant in Alloa has now agreed to take the items that are uplifted and will send these to a recycling plant near Motherwell, which will process the items before returning them to the Alloa factory; believes that these efforts will help reduce Clackmannanshire’s carbon footprint, and wishes the Bottle Genies and O-I all the very best with what it sees as their inspiring partnership.
