Alloa Academy Fundraises for Strathcarron Hospice
The motion
That the Parliament commends pupils at Alloa Academy for raising £1,700 for Strathcarron Hospice; understands that fifth and sixth year students at the school have also decided to raise more money for the hospice; notes that a charity lunch and raffle was held at Victoria's coffee shop in Stirling in aid of the end-of-life care service, and that this was organised by senior pupil leaders and members of the charities team after they set themselves the task of funding the hospice for half a day; understands that the senior leaders are members of the school's Leadership Academy and are working towards an SQA qualification; notes that the money raised so far is almost one third of the overall fundraising target; understands that the hospice, which provides palliative care for people who are terminally ill, as well as support for families, needs to raise £12,900 each day to keep its services running; notes that the pupils have just under £5,000 left to raise, and commends everyone involved for their tireless commitment to the hospice.
