Scottish Churches Housing Action's 25th Anniversary
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Scottish Churches Housing Action (SCHA) in Edinburgh on reaching its 25th anniversary; considers that the continuation of homelessness across Scotland is no cause for celebration but recognises the work of SCHA and church communities in supporting people experiencing homelessness over these years; notes that SCHA is a small organisation but, through the work of the church community, it supports and achieves outcomes way beyond its size; understands that there are a number of projects that have been established to help prevent homelessness by assisting people in their new tenancies through the provision of starter packs and befriending projects; notes that SCHA has also developed new affordable homes from church properties, helping to meet Scotland’s need to house people struggling to find homes that they can afford to live in and reaching thousands of people in need; commends everyone involved with SCHA, and wishes them all continued positive outcomes in this 25th anniversary year.
