Forth Valley College Shortlisted in Three TES UK Awards

That the Parliament congratulates Forth Valley College (FVC), which has a campus in Alloa, on being shortlisted for three TES Further Education awards in 2020; understands that FVC has been shortlisted in the categories of FE College of the Year, Outstanding use of Technology for improving teaching, learning and assessment and Contribution to the local community at the awards, which will be held in the prestigious Grosvenor House Hotel in London on 20 March 2020; acknowledges that being shortlisted means that FVC is in the top three colleges in the UK in these categories for 2020; notes that the submission for the College of the Year award focuses on the college’s strategic approach and its "making learning work" ethos, which has been backed up by national recognition of the significant contribution that the college makes to its students, the local community and wider economy; further notes that the submission for the Outstanding use of Technology award focuses on the college’s approach to innovative technology through its creative learning and technology strategy; acknowledges that the submission for the Contribution to the local Community award focuses on the college’s science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) outreach training programme for schools and youth organisations in the Forth Valley area; notes that this initiative has already been recognised as a Scottish national winner at the College Development Network Awards, which were held in November 2019, and commends the FVC Principal, Dr Ken Thomson, and all at the college, for their tireless work for the benefit of further education and the wider community of Clackmannanshire and the Forth Valley.
