The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Rubber Chicken Theatre, a Dunblane theatre group, on entering the Guinness Book of Records for the fastest-ever theatrical performance; understands that a cast and crew of nearly 200 performed the 1980s romantic comedy, The Wedding Singer, to a full house in the Macrobert Arts Centre in Stirling after just under 12 hours of rehearsals; acknowledges that the theatre group, whose stars are aged from just eight to over 70, took the musical to the stage on 15 February 2020, just 11 hours and 59 minutes after initially opening their scripts; acknowledges that group was confirmed as a new Guinness World Record title holder by its official adjudicator who was present during the performance and who announced the result on stage at the end; notes that the Dunblane company trimmed just over two-and-a-half hours off the previous world record set by Stage Right in Greensberg, Pennsylvania, when it put on a production of Children Of Eden in 14 hours 30 minutes on 9 March 2019; considers that the production choice for the Stirling performance was independently selected from a range of hundreds of musicals, which the cast and crew only found out about when they lifted the lid on a mystery box of scripts, and commends everyone involved on their sterling endeavours.
