Motion · S5M-24143 · 16 Feb 2021
Sir William Macpherson
The motion
That the Parliament notes with sadness the death of Sir William Macpherson of Cluny, who passed away at his home in Blairgowrie, aged 94; notes that Sir William was the High Court Judge who presided over the trial of child killer, Robert Black, and chaired the public inquiry into the murder of Stephen Lawrence, making recommendations that would lead to wide-ranging changes in the approach to policing and race relations across the UK; acknowledges that he was the 27th chief of the Clan Macpherson Association, and was hugely involved in his community, including playing golf at Blairgowrie Golf Course, where he was an honorary member, and expresses its condolences to all of Sir William's family.
