The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the return of the Marie Curie Great Daffodil Appeal, which is held every March and is the charity's biggest annual fundraiser; acknowledges that, in Scotland, it needs to raise £250,000 per week to support its frontline services; believes that, although the COVID-19 restrictions will mean that the appeal will look very different this year, it will be more important than ever; notes that, with public collections cancelled and its shops closed, Marie Curie is instead raising money to support its vital services virtually, with the public able to support the appeal by taking part or donating online by visiting mariecurie.org.uk/daffodil; acknowledges that the 2021 campaign centres around small gestures or moments that mean the world, such as the reassuring words and comfort provided by Marie Curie nurses or the charity's volunteers dropping off food and letters during these difficult and often lonely times; acknowledges that every penny raised will mean the world to people living with a terminal illness; commends Marie Curie on its sterling and tireless work in the face of adversity, and wishes everyone involved all the very best.
