The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the news that Cricket Scotland has announced a new partnership with Dollar Academy to establish a centre of excellence for its performance pathway players with a view to helping develop the national team of the future; understands that the performance pathway programme includes national age group squads, both male and female, at under-15, -17 and -19 levels and that these players will benefit from Dollar's outstanding cricket and sports facilities; believes that the Academy, which was founded in 1818, is one of the UK’s leading independent day and boarding schools and that sport is a big part of life there, with teams regularly winning national rugby and hockey titles; believes that it has a rapidly growing reputation for cricket, golf, football and tennis; notes that it has over 200 girls and boys playing cricket each year and was the T20 National U18 School Champion in 2018 and 2019; acknowledges the positive physical, mental and social benefits of sport in schools; congratulates Dollar Academy in its selection as a national performance pathway centre of excellence; commends Cricket Scotland on what it sees as its visionary performance pathway programme, and wishes all of Dollar Academy’s and Scotland’s aspiring young players well with fulfilling their dreams as they work hard to be the best that they can be.
