The motion

That the Parliament acknowledges the Duke of Rothesay's efforts to promote rural education, champion environmentalism and revitalise rural communities; understands that he has plans to build a farming school on the grounds of Dumfries House, near Cumnock, in East Ayrshire, to encourage young people to enter the industry; further understands that the proposed facility will be built next to a working farm on the 2,000-acre estate; recognises that the charity, of which the Duke is president, aims to train around 1,800 people each year at the facility to help them to find jobs; considers that the school curriculum requires more emphasis on the countryside, food production and agriculture, in order to tackle climate change; commends the Duke on his latest project, and urges the Scottish Government to include more agricultural and countryside qualifications in the SCQ Framework, alongside building more rural classrooms and providing more opportunities for children and young people to visit farms.
