The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Jim Fairlie, Member of the Scottish Parliament for Perthshire South and Kinross-shire, on successfully scaling Mount Kilimanjaro for charity; understands that Jim, alongside 22 other group members, climbed 5,895 meters above sea to complete this incredible challenge in memory of his late brother, Andrew; considers that the fundraising target of £100,000 will massively impact the two charities Jim has chosen to complete this challenge for – The Cornhill Hospice in Perth, where his late brother, Andrew, sadly passed away under the care of invaluable and compassionate caregivers, and The Andrew Fairlie Scholarship, co-ordinated by Hospitality Industry Trust Scotland, which will fund young chefs from across Scotland in training and their initial set-up as they progress in their desired culinary profession, continuing Andrew’s legacy to constantly strive to improve the Scottish hospitality sector; notes that the group will also fundraise for Macmillan Cancer Support Scotland; congratulates Jim Fairlie MSP on his incredible achievement, and wishes him all the best in his post-climb recovery.
