Support for Doddie Aid

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the announcement of Doddie Aid for the third year running after successes of previous years; recognises that the founder of the event, My Name'5 Doddie Foundation, which invests in research to find meaningful treatments for motor neuron disease (MND); thanks Doddie Weir for his inspirational drive in funding research through his charity, My Name'5 Doddie Foundation; considers that there is a necessity for funding incentives such as Doddie Aid to help raise money to combat the debilitating disease; commends what it sees as the healthy competition between districts, helping to motivate people to have a healthy and active lifestyle going into the new year; understands that, over the last two years, the event has seen over 30,000 participants cover four million miles and raise over £2 million for the Foundation, and encourages people across Scotland to sign up and compete in Doddie Aid to help raise money for future MND research.
