Dundee Professor Elected President of the RSA

The motion

That the Parliament recognises the election of Professor Gareth Fisher as President of the Royal Scottish Academy of Art and Architecture (RSA); understands that Professor Fisher joined Dundee’s Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in the 1980s; further understands that Professor Fisher is a renowned artist and academic whose own work in sculpture, construction and watercolour painting has been exhibited internationally; considers that, as the RSA approaches its bicentennial year in 2026, it is led by three people inextricably linked to the Duncan of Jordanstone Art College, namely, Professor Fisher, the painter and lecturer, Delia Baillie, as the RSA’s Treasurer, and Edward Summerton, an artist and Senior Lecturer, as the RSA's Secretary; welcomes the election of all three, and congratulates them and all of their colleagues and students at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, the University of Dundee and the citizenry of Dundee on what it sees as their immeasurable contributions to Scottish art and culture.
