The motion

That the Parliament commends the Scottish Retail Consortium and wider British Retail Consortium and their members on launching new voluntary guidelines for retailers on the responsible sale of disposable BBQs during extreme heat events; welcomes this initiative, which has seen the guidelines and practical steps for shopkeepers developed in partnership with manufacturers, charities, and fire and rescue services; notes that the purpose is to encourage shops to better advise and educate customers on the safe and responsible use and disposal of single-use disposable BBQs, to prevent the spread of wildfires and encourage closer collaboration between shopkeepers and local authorities when extreme heat events occur, and encourages retailers of all sizes across Scotland to adopt and use the guidelines.
