University of St Andrews Performance Golf Team Wins the British Universities and Colleges Sport National Final

The motion

That the Parliament sends its warmest congratulations to the University of St Andrews Performance Golf Team on winning the British Universities and Colleges Sport National Final on 13 April 2023, in Lincolnshire; acknowledges the historic feat achieved by the Saints Golf team to retain its title, becoming the first ever team from St Andrews to do so; notes what it sees as the strength of the St Andrews scholarship programme, supported by the 600 Club, Saints Sport, The R&A, and the St Andrews Links Trust, which, it believes, has played such a pivotal role in delivering exceptional sporting talent; commends the University of Stirling on a closely-fought final, which finished 6.5 to 5.5 points, with five of the eight singles matches going all the way to the 18th hole; celebrates the remarkable performances of what it considers to be two of Scotland’s finest educational sporting institutions in the final of a highly competitive national event, and wishes both teams future success at both domestic and international levels.
