Congratulating Rosyth Boxer, Niamh Mitchell, as Dunfermline Press Community Champion Awards Sporting Champion of the Year

The motion

That the Parliament celebrates the success of Niamh Mitchell, a boxer from Rosyth, on being named Dunfermline Press Community Champion Awards Sporting Champion of the Year; understands that the talented 16-year-old became the first female to win gold for Scotland at a major international competition, when she won the 52kg light bantamweight title at the European Boxing Confederation (EUBC) European Junior Championships in October 2022; notes that Niamh trains at Bowhill Miners Amateur Boxing Club in Cardenden, and recently headlined the first all-female boxing show in Scotland, hosted by Bowhill Boxing; recognises the fantastic achievements of this very talented young woman, and wishes her all the very best for her future.
