Bridge of Allan Mountaineer Becomes the Sixth Woman from Scotland to Conquer Mount Everest
The motion
That the Parliament commends a mountaineer from Bridge of Allan, who has become only the sixth woman from Scotland to reach the summit of Mount Everest; understands that ski instructor Kirsty Mack’s achievement is even more remarkable after suffering a serious injury while skiing two years ago, which has left her without full use of one of her arms; acknowledges that Kirsty reached the summit with her climbing partner, Lhakpa Wongchu Sherpa, in the 70th anniversary year of Mount Everest’s first ascent by Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay, and congratulates Kirsty, in addition to all her team, on her monumental feat of skill, strength and courage.
