Friends of CHAS Clackmannanshire Established

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the news that a new group has been established in Clackmannanshire to raise funds for Children's Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS); understands that the group, Friends of CHAS Clackmannanshire, was formed in around June 2023 within the Wee County and will be hosting its latest Craft Fayre and Afternoon Tea event on the afternoon of 2 September 2023, in Coronation Hall, Muckhart; believes that the group's inaugural stall raised £65.82 at Dollar Gala on 3 June 2023, and then £76.32 at Fossoway Primary School Summer Fete at the Crook of Devon on 24 June 2023; understands that, for the September event, raffle prizes include vouchers for The Japanese Garden at Cowden, and many more prizes; believes that CHAS is the only service in the country that supports babies, young people and children with a life-shortening condition and that its mission is to ensure that all families in such situations receive the help and support that they deserve; acknowledges that Friends of CHAS Clackmannanshire has been set up to help support CHAS whenever possible; understands that Treasurer, Marion Riddell, has embarked on this venture following the tragic loss of her daughter, and given the support that she received from CHAS throughout most of her daughter’s life, and especially at the end; commends Marion on her courage; is enthused by her and her colleagues’ efforts in embarking on this venture, and wishes them all the very best in their future endeavours.
