The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation on being named charity of the year at the JustGiving Awards 2023; understands that this follows the success of the 2023 Doddie Aid event where over £2 million was raised in just six weeks by 38,000 participants for motor neurone disease (MND) research; notes that the charity works to find a cure for MND through research funding in Doddie Weir’s name; understands that Doddie was a former Scotland international rugby player who achieved 61 caps for his country; further understands that the late Doddie Weir, who was diagnosed with MND in 2016, fought hard for its funding until his unfortunate passing in 2022; notes the dedication of Jill Douglas for her work as CEO of the Doddie Foundation, by making sure that the foundation continues to raise funding in aid of MND, and wishes the foundation and all participants involved with Doddie Aid in years past continued success with the fundraiser for MND in the years to come.
