The Walk for Freedom 2023
The motion
That the Parliament recognises that the Walk for Freedom took place on 14 October 2023; understands that it is a day of global awareness and local action with the aim of stopping human trafficking, on which the wearing of black clothes, posters and flyers are used to educate the public about modern day slavery; further understands that Broughton High School pupils organised an anti-slavery week, in which around six pupils from S6 took part in assemblies for all year groups, telling 1,200 students about the problem of human trafficking; commends the seven Broughton High School pupils from S2 to S6 that attended the Walk for Freedom in Edinburgh city centre, and recognises that two of the students read the Declaration of Freedom poem at the beginning of the event and three helped to steward the walk.
