First Bus Offers Free Travel to Thank Veterans and Armed Forces Personnel

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates First Bus on offering free travel to all veterans and Armed Forces personnel across the Greater Glasgow area on 11 and 12 November 2023; notes that veterans and Armed Forces personnel simply have to wear their uniform or show the driver their service ID card to ride for free; understands that First Bus has strong links with Armed Forces communities, as many veterans now work for the firm; acknowledges that the company will continue to support the community by donating £5,000 to Erskine Veterans Charity, which provides care, compassion and support to nearly 1,000 residents and their families each year; notes that this is the company's way of saying "thank you", as well as honouring all men and women who choose to serve and protect the freedoms that people now take for granted, and considers that this support is testament to the commitment of First Bus to veterans and to making a positive impact on the lives of those who have served their country.
