Stirling High School Wins Prestigious Debating Competition

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Heather Cook and Logan Henderson from Stirling High School on winning the St Andrew’s Day Debating Tournament, which was held on 30 November 2023; notes that this is the premier event in Young Speakers Scotland’s debating calendar; further notes that the event is held annually and sees pupils from around Scotland compete in a day-long tournament, debating topical issues with one another; understands that the event is unique to the St Andrew’s Day Debate and allows for pupils to participate as judges and chairs, in the presence of Scottish university students, who act as mentors throughout the day to ensure that the event is both competitive and an opportunity for learning, and wishes Heather and Logan all the best with their future debating.
