Town Break Dementia Support Services

The motion

That the Parliament expresses its deep distress at the current financial situation facing Town Break dementia support services in the Mid Scotland and Fife region; understands that, while a 100% funding agreement by Falkirk Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) has safeguarded the group’s work in the area, which it believes should be applauded, a lack of decision on funding by Clackmannanshire and Stirling HSCP has meant that some of Town Break’s services in these local authority areas have been forced to close or be severely curtailed; further understands that these include closures in Alva and Bannockburn, which it believes the group and service users will find extremely upsetting, as well as cancellations in Killin and the curtailing of services in Callander and Alloa; considers that, since its establishment in 1992, Town Break has been a pillar of support for individuals and families affected by dementia; further considers, however, that in 2024 the group is currently facing unprecedented funding challenges, and notes the belief that an urgent appeal is necessary for an appropriate funding commitment to be made by Clackmannanshire and Stirling HSCP, as well as support from what it sees as the invaluable community in the region.
