Largest University of Stirling Team GB Swimming Contingent Set to Compete in 2024 Paris Olympics

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the news that seven swimmers from the University of Stirling are set to compete for Team GB at the summer 2024 Paris Olympic Games; acknowledges that this is the largest ever contingent from the university, which is considered a landmark achievement for its high-performance swim programme; understands that the British Olympic Association announced its 33-strong swim team for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games at a press conference held at the University of Stirling, which is known nationally as Scotland’s University for Sporting Excellence; acknowledges that the group comprises of Olympic champions Duncan Scott and Kathleen Dawson, as well as Lucy Hope, Jack McMillan, Keanna Macinnes, Katie Shanahan and Angharad Evans; notes that the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, which will run from 26 July to 11 August 2024, will be Duncan Scott’s third Olympics, that he already has six Olympic medals to his name, and that and both he and Kathleen Dawson will be hoping to build on their success from Tokyo 2021, where they both won gold; commends the University of Stirling on what it sees as its phenomenal coaching achievements and sporting successes, as well as those of all the competitors, and wishes everyone involved all the very best and every success in their 2024 competitions.
