Year of the Volunteer 2005 - Month of Youth and Children

The motion

That the Parliament acknowledges that 2005 is the Year of the Volunteer which promotes the social and personal benefits of people giving their time for others and provides information on how they can become involved with volunteering in their local communities; notes that the Year of the Volunteer 2005 is being run across the whole of the United Kingdom and is supported by the Scottish Executive, working in partnership with a range of voluntary organisations, including CSV; further notes that February is dedicated to the theme of Youth and Children; recognises the valuable role which younger volunteers play in communities across Scotland, and pays tribute to their work for people of all ages.
