Congratulations to Scotland's Cricket Team, Winners of the ICC Trophy
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Scotland’s cricket team on its historic victory over Ireland in Dublin to win the ICC Trophy on 13 July 2005; hopes that Scotland’s outstanding success will encourage greater interest and participation in cricket, especially among young people, leading to even greater success for the national side in the future; notes that Scotland has already qualified for the Cricket World Cup which will be held in the West Indies in 2007 and that Scotland’s ICC Trophy victory places the team in the same group as the Netherlands, South Africa and Australia; wishes Scotland every success in the World Cup, and looks forward to welcoming Australia to Scotland for an international friendly match in Edinburgh this August.
