Diabetes Week - 11 to 17 June 2006

The motion

That the Parliament notes Diabetes Week 2006 which takes place from 11 to 17 June; welcomes this annual campaign by Diabetes UK which is important in increasing the public’s knowledge of the condition; recognises the hard work of Diabetes UK in providing support for diabetics and their families and congratulates Diabetes UK for its provision of education and support services which have a very positive impact on people who suffer from diabetes and their families; further notes the specific work being done to raise awareness of the impact of diabetes on certain ethnic groups within Scotland, and urges the Scottish Executive to continue to work with bodies such as Diabetes UK to reduce the number of people developing diabetes across the country.
