Shipping of Prawns
The motion
That the Parliament condemns the decision of Young’s Seafood Limited to ship prawns from the Solway up to 12,000 miles and back in order to be hand-shelled in Thailand and then returned to Scotland, without regard to the environmental damage caused by this unnecessary transportation and the loss of over a hundred Scottish jobs, and calls on the Scottish Executive to hold urgent talks with the company to discuss ways of reversing the decision.
