The Closure of Craigiehall Army HQ and the Future Defence of Scotland
The motion
That the Parliament condemns the closure of the Army HQ at Craigiehall, near Edinburgh, which it believes threatens 100 civilian jobs and involves the relocation of service personnel; calls on the UK Government to honour its promise to relocate around 7,000 personnel to Scotland; considers that this, following on from the Labour administration’s regimental review, which amalgamated Scotland’s established regiments, further weakens the capability of the armed forces in Scotland, and believes that the biggest threat to Scotland's security, military, infrastructure and energy interests is posed by the UK Government.
